Frequently Asked Questions

Can LightStrike Robots be purchased for non-healthcare needs?
Our mission is to save lives and reduce suffering by destroying the deadly microorganisms that cause infections. However, we are expanding into non-healthcare businesses on a case-by-case basis.

Can LightStrike be used for large halls like a warehouse or expo center for quarantined patients?
Yes, our Science team would work with you to develop the best protocol for your facility needs.

Can humans be present while the LightStrike Robot performs its disinfection cycle?
People should not be directly exposed to the light. We have developed multiple safety measures when using the LightStrike Robot that allow for safe disinfection of multi-occupancy rooms.

    • Mercury products: photodimerization
  • Materials Damage (yellowing of plastic materials / bulb breakage)
    • LightStrike: no reports of materials damage

Does the LightStrike Robot kill SARS-CoV-2?
Yes, the LightStrike Robot is the FIRST Disinfection technology proven to kill SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) in 2 minutes! The LightStrike Robot has been validated against live (not surrogate) SARS-CoV-2 in the biosafety level 4 (BSL-4) containment laboratory at Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Designed for maximum containment, BSL-4 labs offer a safe environment for scientists to study deadly pathogens for which there are no known treatments or vaccines. Texas Biomed is home to one of only six BSL-4 labs in North America and has both the expertise and resources to test against these pathogens. In 2015, also at Texas Biomed, Xenex proved the ability of the LightStrike Robot to destroy the Ebola virus in 1 minute. Read More.

I understand that Pulsed Xenon has been used in other applications, such as water treatment. How is Xenex different from other companies with pulsed xenon technologies.
Pulsed xenon technologies are not all the same. The pulsed xenon technology used in the LightStrike Robot was developed and patented by Xenex to optimize its use for environmental disinfection. It is the only UV on the market (whether pulsed xenon or mercury UV) with peer reviewed studies showing statistically significant infection rate reductions where the only change in disinfection protocol was the addition of UV disinfection.

Do you have rental or leasing options?
We do offer a leasing program. Due to high demand during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we have suspended our rental program and are recommending capital purchase or lease only.

Can I purchase your product and use it in various locations (ie take it to multiple locations as a mobile disinfection service)?
Ideal use of the LightStrike Robot is to have it become part of a disinfection program, it is an added protection used after manual cleaning has occurred. It is important for operators to receive proper training & care of the Robot. Moving the Robot from location to location is not ideal as it would be difficult to manage the data integrity & reporting. Also, transportation between sites introduces the possibility of cross contamination.

How can I get a quote?
Please let us know where you are located, what kind of business you are in, and how you plan to incorporate our program. Once we have this information from you, we will put you in touch with the appropriate Xenex representative.
